@jpmens I generally found pro wrestling boring, and faintly ridiculous. However, in my early years, I knew some younger kids who watched it. Hogan in particular marketed himself to younger kids as a sort of role model (not in a creepy way or anything; that was simply one of the demographics he targeted). He even had his own cartoon briefly (why I even know that baffles me, although in my weak defense I did need to look it up to confirm I wasn’t hallucinating it).
@jpmens all of which to say, yeah; he made an impact on a a sizable chunk of the young male population in their formative years, so I’m not particularly surprised if there’s an upswell of support/sympathy. Mildly disappointed, but not surprised.
