US abortion numbers rise slightly since Roe was overturned, study finds

A new report shows the number of monthly abortions in the U.S. went up slightly in the first three months of 2024 compared with before the Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade. The #WeCount report says a major reason for the increase is that some Democratic-controlled states have laws to protect prescribers who use telemedicine to see patients in places with abortion bans. The latest edition of the survey counted an average of just under 99,000 abortions per month, compared with 84,000 in the two months before Dobbs. January was the first time since the survey began that it has counted more than 100,000 abortions across the country in a single month.

As many as a quarter of a million Americans died of covid simply as appeasements to the twin gods of intentional ignorance and politics.

Red state governors sacrificed 200,000 Americans to COVID-19

Movie depictions of human sacrifice are usually pretty straightforward: There’s an altar. There’s a knife. Sometimes the scenes take place on a big pyramid to better show off a stream of blood or a tumbling head. But during the COVID-19 pandemic,...

Oh yes. Watching your mom get beat up by your dad is totally the kind of real American influence kids need in their lives.

For the sake of kids, they also need to learn to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. For the sake of the kids, we need to defund public schools, get rid of school lunches, not have universal healthcare, not give them universal childcare. For the sake of the kids, they should toughen up by working in mines, preferably unpaid so they know what life was like back in the day.

All for the sake of the kids of course. Capitalism has nothing to do with this.

Book bans continue at record pace in 2023, American Library Association reports

The nationwide surge in book bannings continues. The American Library Association is reporting that challenges to books in schools and public libraries will likely reach record highs in 2023, topping what had been a record pace in 2022. School libraries had long been the predominant target, but in 2023 reports have been near-equally divided between schools and libraries open to the general public, the ALA announced Wednesday. The ALA released its numbers in advance of its annual banned books week, Oct. 1-7, when libraries highlight challenged works.
