Their personal belongings, including mobile phones, were confiscated, preventing them from contacting relatives, the embassy, or their employer. Most of these items have not been returned. One collector with a disability was only assisted after losing consciousness. Another, who has diabetes, was forcibly injected with an unknown substance, causing a sharp spike in blood sugar and the development of hypertension, which led to his hospitalization. Hungarian law enforcement exerted psychological and physical pressure, denied the men the opportunity to testify in their native language, and spoke to the Ukrainians in Russian. Furthermore, they were denied access to a lawyer and the Ukrainian consul was barred from seeing the detainees.
