Apparently, this is my 5000th Mastodon toot. And it’s a good one, from my trip to Ecuador in 2018. Cheers to all my mastodon friends for the inspiration, encouragement, knowledge, and fun you’ve brought to my time over here!

Head's up, Mastodon users: There appears to be a coordinated effort to impersonate relatively high-profile people who have accounts on various instances but who have not used them in a while.

I've gotten several follow notifications - and a couple of DMs - from impersonators of people I know. The bogus accounts have lots of underscores in the handles, and they repost items from the past, sometimes years old. If you spot this, please report, do not engage, and then block.

Pls boost.

Are you in France with a cat that used to live in Aotearoa NZ and the cat is missing?

A cat found in Antony France with a NZ chip. Someone posted in reddit hoping to reunite the cat with the cat''s owners/slaves.

#OldPeopleOfMastodon in the UK. Question for you. In the 1960s my mum occasionally used to get a cordial drink. It was vaguely fruity and very spicy. Non-alcoholic. Mixed with hot water it was something like mulled wine, which I didn't get to taste until 20 years later. Definitely a winter warmer drink. Does anyone know what it was? Or if it, or something similar, still exists?
@conejoclint Will get right on that as soon as I'm done .... oh, wait.
There's snow falling outside my window today

Progress on the lap blanket done with Tunisian crochet.

Now the concept hopefully is a bit more clear.

A few different colors are involved (plan is to pick them so any strip does not touch a part of the same color as the one in progress. That means that after this green I can only do white or light gray for the next strip that will go along the edge at the top of the current picture, thus that strip will span the current green, the dark blue at the top and then the dark gray to the left

All stripes are the same stitch pattern, but I vary the width of them between 12 and 22 stitches (so far the first piece is widest).

It is a play on a 10-stitch blanket where I attach the new strips as I go (the technique for that is usually referred as Tunisian crochet entrelac)

Hemming a woven rug. It takes a bit of time for sure.
