@stsing @easst Yes, there will be a panel at #EASST4S2024 with it's own merch πŸ˜€ More importantly though, it concerns all of us & the way we want to work together. Wednesday from 16-17:30, we will discuss on how to transform STS via #WeDoSTS. Stickers are available exclusively off campus, bigger bulks available for anyone who wants to distribute them at their home institutions. Respond here, find me there, ask someone who knows someone. You & the sticker(s) will find each other! #WeDoSTS @easst
Today's #Muppets GIF of the Day is...
Culture change: "of the 650 MPs, 63% were educated at comprehensive schools, which is the highest proportion than ever recorded. This means the new House of Commons is closer to reflecting the 88% of Brits who attended comprehensive schools. In comparison, only 54% of the MPs elected at the 2019 general election went to a comprehensive school, and 52% in 2017." https://www.suttontrust.com/news-opinion/all-news-opinion/sutton-trust-analysis-reveals-historic-sea-change-in-the-education-background-of-the-party-of-government/

What then?

What do you think they will do with that power?

Biden currently has an unprecedented amount of executive power. What is he currently doing? Why would he do something different after the election?

Learned a new word today:

respair

From the 16th century. It means "fresh hope, and recovery from despair."

I wish you all a year filled with respair.

Please feel free to pass it on to others; this one needs to be spread around, I think.

Another open post, showing my finds and experiments during the second half of my residency!

β€œEven a year ago, the conversation on fossil fuel phase-out at COP28 was completely unthinkable,” Jonas Kuehl, IISD

β€œThis is the first COP where the words fossil fuels are actually included in the draft decision. This is the beginning of the end of the fossil fuel era.” Mohamed Adow, Power Shift Africa

As the COP28 negotiations drag on, I think it's essential to recognize that, regardless of the results, change IS happening.

Even if COP28 fails, it has changed the conversation on fossil fuels

Countries at the COP28 climate summit are still struggling to reach a deal on phasing out fossil fuels, but even having discussions on an end to the main cause of global warming is huge progress, say campaigners and researchers
