@Sarklor It has a similar position in mine, along with Unhallowed Metropolis, and 7th Sea. That's excellent to hear, I think one of the smartest things that Schwalb did was have a plethora of those 7~ page adventures getting published regularly.
@Sarklor You can clearly see Schwalb's Warhammer Fantasy pedigree in the setting. It's got a lot going for it, and when I played I loved my Orc Rogue/Ranger. Looking forward to Occult Philosophy when it comes out.
Ran my first game of Shadow of the Demon Lord in a long, long time yesterday. Really enjoyed getting back into, what has to be, one of my favourite systems. Setting has some cool aspects to it, but I don't care about it anywhere near as much as I do about the system. #SotDL

@jskellogg I can understand that. I was using my setting as an example, which generally has civilisations flourishing in the ruins of those that came before. Think people still using Roman baths in the 21st Century.

You could always have the enemy be magical or summoned creatures. The reason the wizard wanted to build his tower here was for the abundance of magical ingredients and the latent power available. Demons, aberrations and such forth are heavily featured.

@jskellogg I’ve been toying with something similar for my homebrew game. I had thought something along the lines of an ancient guardian. Not necessarily evil, but it views the accidental intrusion into its ‘domain’ as an act of aggression and deals with it in a heavy-handed manner. Problem is I’ve still got to work out how this response arrives. Does it disturb a tribe of goblins which flee in terror right into the new settlement? Or something else that leads the PCs back to it eventually.

@StaleWhiteBread @jskellogg Curse of Strahd is one that never interested me, I'm a fan of pre-writtens, I've ran quite a few across different settings/systems. I've been lacking in both time and creativity for a while so they've been a real help.

Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon Heist for 5e DnD are modules I highly recommend. I'm running LMoP and playing Dragon Heist, so I have a slightly different perspective for each of the modules, but my interactions with each have left me really happy.

@jskellogg it's a shame you hate it that much. I ran it for my wife and I, you're right in the walls of text and the occasional plot hole, but I would disagree that its only useful as ideas for other games.
@jskellogg what didn’t you like about it? My wife and I played through the whole Tyranny of Dragons campaign and some issues aside, we found it enjoyable.
@jskellogg Congratulations!

@ossifog I think I stumbled over my words there. I blame the drowsiness inducing medication. What I was trying to say is if you already have an interest in RP then you’re likely to enjoy hearing how other people’s stories of memorable moments, encounter handling, and RPing.

Conversely, if RP is not something you enjoy, participate in, or even know about, then the idea of listening to someone’s session recap is likely to be, at best, dull and pointless.
