Washington University’s Danforth Center on Religion and Politics seeks a new director. I’m on the (university-wide) search committee and happy to answer any questions. Washington University in St. Louis seeks a dynamic leader and distinguished scholar of religion and U.S. politics to serve as the Director of the John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics.

Established in 2010 by an endowment gift of $30,000,000 from the Danforth Foundation, the purpose of this non-partisan, non-sectarian Center is to provide rigorous education, research, and scholarship on the role of religion in U.S. politics not only to scholars and students but also to local, state, and national audiences. The Center currently houses five senior […]

I have never seen someone under 30 walking around with their iPhone flashlight on by accident. But I (and my fellow 40+s) do this at least 100 times a day. Why??
A definite highlight of the semester was getting Holley her very own #WashU ID. She’s officially a research dog.
#introduction Greetings Mastodon-ers! I’m a #politicalscience Ph.D. candidate at #Harvard and I do research on political communication and computational social science. I’m thinking a lot these days about: how #corporations “talk” about politics and who their audience is, how #media coverage actually works in campaigns, and better ways to do #election #polling. If you are also part of this hivemind or are generally cool let’s hive(?) together (i.e. follow me!!)!

So, since I'm going to give this Mastodon thing a try, here's an intro:

I'm a political science professor at Bucknell University, and I study American political institutions, with a focus on Congress--especially parties, leaders, and rules, and a little bit of congressional history. I do quant and archival work (sometimes both at the same time!). As a LAC professor, I also think a lot about teaching US politics to undergrads.

Since I’m new here, let me mention my new book with Jon Rogowski. We examine public opinion on unilateral presidential power. Examining lots of original and historical survey data, we show that there is deep antipathy toward unilateral powers and the policies achieved through them. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1316626474/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0_nodl?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWwp13NParams&dplnkId=49280bd4-d39c-4509-821d-ba86bf6e747f

[Guest essay] Korea’s absent state and backsliding democracy

In Korea, state authority is wielded selectively, while the state neglects the duties that it should be responsible for
