Today I have a nice image from legendary artist Rick Parks, who went on to join Westwood to work on titles like Eye of the Beholder and Legend of Kyrandia. He sadly left us way too soon.

Here's a great Black Horse by Louis Johnson which is probably also dated in the late 1980ies.

This time a beautiful country scenery from veteran Amiga and game development artist Avril Harrison, who sadly passed away in 2019.

March I will be posting a batch of updates that will consist of individual images that I couldn't fit in under a specific topic or name.

I'm starting with the winning entry of the Amiga Magazin Color Cycling Contest, where I finally found a version with correct colors that allowed me to recreate the color cycling animation.

First update of the year and I added a whole collection of nice images from CU Amiga magazine.

I went down the rabbit hole and added scans from the magazines' Art Gallery section, which included lots more really cool art. But as usual it's been really difficult to find the original versions of these images.

You can find all images (including the ones I've added previously) and some additional information on the Compute! Amiga Resource publication page:

Amiga Graphics Archive - Publications - Compute ! Amiga Resource

The original Compute! magazine started in 1979, spawned the Compute!'s Gazette in 1983 (specifically for Commodore computers) and then spawned the Computes!'s Amiga Resource in 1989, where I found these images. At the beginning of 1991 it got merged back into the Compute! Gazette, before completely disappearing. During that period the Art Gallery stopped appearing, which is the reason why I don't have additional information for two of the latest images. Magic Fingers looks like a scan.[/img]October 1989 - Jacuzzi Musing and Drawing found. Added lots of nice images from Compute! Amiga Resource magazine. They had a reccuring art gallery section that featured artists' submissions with very different art styles.

Added a big selection of color cycling images, each with interesting and fascinating techniques to achieve astonishing animations simply by shifting the color values around the palette.

I also built a new color cycling converter that can better fit these animations into loopable sections and can also handle interlaced crt images.

Added the next batch of Amiga Magazin images. This time from the color cycling contests in July 1988.

I switched the format for images with color cycling or animations in CRT mode to MP4, because some of the loops were getting too long and using animated WEBP files wasn't practical anymore.

Another added to the lost archives: Joe the Monkey was a fun platformer where you had to drop things on the head of a lumberjack trying to cut down your tree with the help of your friends. After a brief preview, the game just disappeared. Can it be saved?

Joe the Monkey (Atari ST, Commodore Amiga, PC) - Games That Weren't

Joe the Monkey is one of many projects that were in development and cancelled by Ubi Soft around this time. Thanks to Hoagie, we learn that the game has you controlling a monkey that must drop things on the head of the lumberjack cutting down your tree.
