My introduction toot: https://a.weirder.earth/@alx/99004446614166466
@ebeth I'm totally the same, and I find this with so many videos people send me links to as well.
If you've any interest in UK-centric anti-racism, I was pleased to find that the 'About Race' podcast comes with full transcripts:
https://www.aboutracepodcast.com/
(though all that said, this one does work well as a podcast, because it's quite conversational)
Just found out that someone I vaguely knew years ago was on a foreign series of X Factor recently, and now I feel oddly invested in finding out what happened even though (a) I don't like talent shows and (b) I can't understand a single word anyone's saying on the youtube clips I've found.
This feels like the kind of compulsion that there's some obscure loanword for.
@Naxjns I mostly use Signal, which is maybe a bit too much of an SMS-a-like to fit your bill.
Someone round these parts was posting about #Tox lately, which looks like it might be interesting:
Whether it's corporations or governments, there's just too much digital spying going on today. Tox is an easy to use application that connects you with friends and family without anyone else listening in. While other big-name services require you to pay for features, Tox is totally free and comes without advertising — forever.
Time for a re- #introduction as it's been a while and there are lots of new people (welcome!):
- I'm a #writer, inasmuch as I have a novel-in-progress that I poke at in fits and spurts.
- Professionally, I do #webdev focussing on charity and other social organisations
- #leftie - both in terms of my preferred hand and my politics
- I live in #Bristol, UK, though my heritage is Greco-Scouse-Welsh
- Show me your favourite #weirdmusic and I'll show you mine
- I'm not religious but I am #discordian
