My introduction toot: https://a.weirder.earth/@alx/99004446614166466
Just found out that someone I vaguely knew years ago was on a foreign series of X Factor recently, and now I feel oddly invested in finding out what happened even though (a) I don't like talent shows and (b) I can't understand a single word anyone's saying on the youtube clips I've found.
This feels like the kind of compulsion that there's some obscure loanword for.
Time for a re- #introduction as it's been a while and there are lots of new people (welcome!):
- I'm a #writer, inasmuch as I have a novel-in-progress that I poke at in fits and spurts.
- Professionally, I do #webdev focussing on charity and other social organisations
- #leftie - both in terms of my preferred hand and my politics
- I live in #Bristol, UK, though my heritage is Greco-Scouse-Welsh
- Show me your favourite #weirdmusic and I'll show you mine
- I'm not religious but I am #discordian
Happy Mojoday everyone! To celebrate, why not make delicious Canarian potatoes with Mojo?
For the Steve Reich fans out there: the Colin Currie Group just released a performance of 'Drumming', and it's the most *alive* I've ever heard that piece on record.
Also, for anyone with an interest in minimalism who has access to BBC iPlayer, the 2-part documentary 'Tones, Drones and Arpeggios' is pretty much essential viewing.
Walked home in the snow tonight, hood up, immersed in some deep drone music and - no lie - it was *perfect*.

⬆ 'Underwater Mountains' by Emeralds, from their album 'Allegory of Allergies'.
I think I've been listening to too much drone lately though. My local supermarket was so quiet that I could hear all the fridges and freezers humming, and I found myself really digging the sound.
