@godsouza that would be 10% of the population of the Gaza Strip. Absolutely horrendous!

As a species I think it might be 50:50 to be honest. But sure, population collapse and technological retreat. But largely it depends whether we can survive in the resultant environment.

There is an arrogance amongst humans that we assume we are killing the planet. We've caused a mass extinction, which could easily lead to the extinction of our own species. But life will survive, new species will evolve. The idiocy is, we know what we are doing, and we do it anyway. But who wants to be around for the famine and wars that the future holds?

Oryx reports, Russia lost 5 more of their KA-52 attack helicopters in the first ATACMS attack conducted by Ukraine.

Before the war, Russia had around 100 KA-52’s, but before this attack they were believed to have only 25 left.

If these numbers are true. Russia has now lost 80 helicopters worth USD 16 million each, leading to an extimated combined loss of USD 1.280.000.000 in this one weapons category.

That is, unfortunately, a perfectly accurate summation of the facts.
@TomSwirly @violetmadder @clarebee @breadandcircuses I never said it should. I said there is too much complacency.

I think the problem is what politicians and the media *hear*, we tell them "there is time", they hear "there is no urgency". But we know we're in the middle of a mass extinction. We know the Amazon is now producing more carbon dioxide than oxygen. I just see a lot of complacency from people like the IPCC.

We also hear a lot of climate activists say stuff like "there is still time to turn this around," and I think what politicians hear is "we're not at a crisis yet." It is time for people to stop saying there is time. There isn't time. If we act now, we're still acting too late, but we might mitigate the worst effects.
