I like old hardware and to start projects I'll never finish.
From Paris, with leaded solder.

I just came across the Silicon "book" preorder by arenamag, and it's a disgrace.

All the die shots are just printed public domain pictures, taken from Wikimedia, Flickr and probably more. Of course, no picture source mentioned.

It's not plagiarism, but it sure as hell is bottom feeding. Be smarter with your money and buy real books like Open Circuits.

And if you don't have money to spare, go enjoy all the nice photography on siliconpr0n, Flickr, Wikimedia but also good articles about technology history such as cpushack's posts about obscure technology.

Edit: removed the link, they don't need or deserve any publicity

@stepleton @fred So it's users who enable it for _their_ posts, not users enabling it client-side when reading?

I see fred's post without formatting, but yours is all fancy and neat

@snuci absolutely, if you remove the 8:16 board it's just like a normal Attaché and can boot CP/M. The only difference is if you have 96 TPI drives, you'll need specific CP/M disks with a boot sector and BIOS that double step

You can make an adapter to use an ATX PSU and test the motherboard outside of the housing.

For diagnosing the 8:16 board, make sure to update your boot rom as the latest version contains diagnostic routines for it

Jerbs woz here
@lcamtuf It's like a shitty gold rush, and everyone is sucking on rusty shovels.

@snuci I may or may not have ordered a 5th one 😇

Still on the lookout for some accessories and documentation. I'd love to get the official monitor and the GPIB card for CP/M.

And I need to update my website and get the word out a bit more once it's all cleaned up

@snuci oh my god it's so darn cute! It would go well with a Poly-88 and an Otrona 🥰
