My talk about BLE on #androiddev from last weeks #DroidCon in London was really fun.

While waiting for the video to get published you can find my slides at https://speakerdeck.com/erikhellman/state-of-ble-on-android-in-2022

State of BLE on Android in 2022

BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) has been available on Android since API level 18. This was 9 years ago and a lot has happened since then. The platform APIs have become more stable, new features are supported, and the OS is providing better support for working with BLE while the app is in the background. It’s great to see developers heading over here. The thing to remember is Mastodon hasn’t had 100s of millions of funding to polish apps, the servers, etc., in the same way Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ had/have so it relies on folks who are willing to donate time and add the polish they’d like to see.
