Things don't have to be the way they are now. I'm terrified of being a real human being on the internet. Allow me to remain blurry and unsatisfying a little longer.

@jalefkowit Just drove a Subaru Sambar from North Carolina to California via Seattle. It was not as romantic as I had envisioned, actually I don't really know what I had envisioned.
@foone also the matrix but the machines are using humans to produce training slop for some advertising/engagement app that ate the world.
@adrianyyy @Natanox @cas @elly my much loved aquaris x has a shattered screen. I still use it daily but I'm desperate to fix the screen and have been unable to find a replacement. Does anyone know somewhere that might have stock?
@gtconway3dg is this trickle down economics?
@jalefkowit I did this for weeks and then did something extremely complicated and silly (bought an amd tuxedo laptop from Germany) there are no rational outcomes with tech.
@jalefkowit I run mint on my work laptop (amd ThinkPad) and have no issues
@HeavenlyPossum I learned to drive, and spent most of my driving life in a country that had few road markings or working traffic controls. Driving in the US has felt isolating and terrifying because there is no car language. People just drive to the rules without paying attention to what's happening around them. I have no idea what anyone is about to do because nobody in the US telegraphs or observes. I don't know how it affects accident numbers, but that's what it feels like.

Hey this is fun, Wikipedia links to an article that says the word sibling was reintroduced (borrowed with a different translation from old English) in 1901 and was relatively obscure as late as 1931. The book was published in 1936, so the author may not have been aware.

Thanks for sharing the archived thread!

@ricci @gwozniak @cross @regehr @dave_andersen @dan this thread is spiraling out of control.
@irenes @jonny I wrote a prototype full screen keyboard(transparent) some time back. It was kind of chorded, most keys were a single tap away but less common characters were 2 taps (top row of meta/function keys that changed the meaning of other character keys for one input action). I really wanted an ime that used all five fingers of one hand, something reliable enough to be used without autocorrect. Keep thinking about it but never do anything, idea is free.
