Let's be clear: Lineker highlighted the general dangers of fascism.
1930s fascism in Germany did not only lead to the Holocaust. It led to locking-up and killing of opponents, trades unionists, Roma, Gay, disabled and mentally unwell as well as Jews. In total, some 20 million people were killed.
Fascism did not just lead to the gas chambers and it was not a tragedy exclusive to one group. All of it can be repeated, easily. Especially with the rhetoric of this government.
I believe Mastodon is having a positive and not insignificant effect upon the bad players of the world.
Looking at Twitters failing business model, loss of influence and army of bots we're getting a water in the punchbowl effect.
Mastodon on the other hand is much more focused on revealing the problems and corruption. If we add in motivational support and expansion of the original post through more ideas, we get a quality over quantity result.
