@ThatNewSound yes, they do (is my understanding)! It's done very near the actual playback hardware, so the manufacturers can tune it quite precisely (if they care).

the idea being that human ears are silly & even with some tins that can't really reproduce low frequencies, adding some upper harmonics of those same frequencies makes us think OO BASS. it's not the same, but it's better when you don't have centimeters of diaphragm to move around #ListeningClub #PsychoacousticsClub
