You can negotiate for anything when you join a new company. Rather than going for every penny, I negotiate for things I find more valuable at my latest job. I now don't have to attend the Xmas party or any off site team building sessions.

In reply to the question of distance for gigs, I have seen a lot of shows a distance away from home, but havent really travelled specifically for them. Last specific one I can remember is a last minute trip to Paris to see Angélique Kidjo perform Talking Heads "Remain In Light" (a previous #ListeningClub pick of mine), which was a magnificent night and to date, the last time she's performed it, so I was validated in my decision to damn the expense and get to the show! #listeningclub

Hey folks, here's a new Golden Hour, it's #13 but we're not superstitious types, too busy looking forward to the arrival of summer round these parts with a solid hour of festival-friendly 160-flavoured jungle 'n' drum & bass 'n' footwork 'n' juke or whatever - as usual there's a good chunk of brand new & recent tunes, along with a light sprinkling of classics and nods to "the old school", as they say.

Way back in the mists of time, a shiny new VHS video recorder appeared in my parents home and soon I had a 180 tape of my very own to fill. The first two things I recorded were the video for "Once In A Lifetime" by Talking Heads, as broadcast on the Roland Rat show, and this half-hour BBC South documentary on Robert Fripp, which popped up on the BBC2 schedule at the very non rock'n'roll time of 5pm, perfect for a returning school kid. A good start.
