It's the Sunday before Christmas and because my family is a bit of a mix of heritages, some of our Christmas traditions have to be moved to this day. Today is when I make my great-grandmother's moczka, a Silesian sauce made with gingerbread and dark beer. (Recipes vary, ours also has celeriac, onions, raisins, and almonds). We'll eat it with Sauerkraut and sausages.
