Another hobby project!
🟢 Text Behind Image Editor: https://bit.ly/textbehindimage

Well known concept. Just my approach for Android.
The goal was to make if fully offline and save original quality images. What's even better - no permissions (new image picker, just gallery intents instead of asking for photo or gallery permissions).

Rendering of images from compose to bitmap is tricky. While creating UI stuff is easy, the saving to bitmap part wasn't so easy.

Does anyone know who I can personally thank and HUG for the "Recomposition State" in Android Studio?

I know I've been complaining about needing it for years now, and I want to give proper credit to whoever just saved my sanity. I might have missed it before, but I noticed it in Ladybug Canary 6.

It helped me find a tricky "why is this recomposing" issue related to using a `data class` for a `ModifierNodeElement` with a function type property. OMG.

Thank you for making me smarter.

It should be as easy to cancel a subscription or membership as it was to sign up.

That's what my Administration's new ā€œClick to Cancelā€ rule is about – saving you time, money, and hassle.

#ThrowbackThursday To that time about 8 years ago when I made a design course with @crafty and @romannurik in Google's NYC office.

Production note, we filmed all the intros and outros on the same day, and it was March I believe, and we didn't have enough mics so mine was tethered to the camera. That's why I look like I'm about to hibernate. I couldn't go in and get warm.

Now that #Android15 has been pushed to AOSP, I can show you a small detail in the updated easter egg:

As an homage to our new code-flagging system, the lander now plants a cute little flag wherever it lands. But as you can see, this new-flag feature is itself implemented behind a feature flag! It's called FlagFlag:

So, with yesterday's launch, the lander landing-flag flag launch has landed.

Just wanted to flag that.

This is so gross. šŸ‘ŽšŸ» Ɨ āˆž

When is Apple going to realize that rent-seeking anywhere and everywhere is not only a bad look, but will get them regulated straight to hell?

(And at this point, it's more than deserved. Bring it on.)

The consistency of adding 'Gemini' to every product reminds me a bit of the vibe from Google+. Of course, it's a totally different use case, but sometimes the feature is super useful, and other times it seems like it was added just to include 'AI' in the product.

We are constantly bringing performance improvements to Jetpack Compose, and today's blog post shows how much faster the upcoming version is compared to a year ago: https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2024/05/whats-new-in-jetpack-compose-at-io-24.html

The graph shows the time to first pixel in our Jetsnack sample app across multiple versions of Compose (in milliseconds).

And more optimizations, like strong skipping on by default, are coming!

My guess is that Google will introduce Studio Bot at Google I/O. It's somewhat late for Google to enter the market (in the EU). We already have functioning solutions like GitHub Copilot. The question is whether they will launch it as a paid option at this phase.
