Why We've Tried to Replace Developers Every Decade

Every decade brings new promises: this time, we'll finally make software development simple enough that we won't need so many developers.

MAGAs will have full government control next term, and Joe Biden is now a lame duck President.

How Joe Biden Can Still Slow MAGA Fascism & Save American Lives

In his final two months in office, Biden can make seismic changes to help tens of millions of Americans — but will he have the courage to act?

Silent book club 📚. I love this so much
I went to Denmark this week and showed folks how Musk was using Snapchat microtargeted ads on Gaza to divide and deter in battleground states via 404 coverage and they were horrified while I also reassured them that the GDPR is a shield from this kind of toxic data abuse. It’s like building climate crisis resilience infrastructure.
Am seriously reverse culture shocking right now, am on the bus and am missing how silent people were on public transit in Japan.

Trying to crank out an English paper before I go to Universal tomorrow.

The fun thing about doing low stakes college courses for fun is that you can engineer the conditions to sneak in a reference to 50 Cent's "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" in a paper talking about Gold Rush era California for the pure objective of amusing yourself. 😂

NPR is once again publishing irresponsible misleading garbage.

An entire strain of the flu was not eliminated "thanks to covid" it was eliminated because everyone collectively masked and took measures that halted the spread of airborne disease.

Think how many viruses and people could be saved if people just fucking masked, we upgraded ventilation, and took airborne disease seriously.

But NPR will never put that in a headline.

Universal masking and social distancing at the start of the pandemic were so effective that they eliminated a strain of flu, and now annual flu vaccines have been redesigned because that strain no longer needs to be included in the shot. Amazing.

PSA: "I will not sign a ban" != "I will veto a ban"

The common way for a bill to become a law is for the president to sign it. But that's not the only way.

If a bill reaches POTUS' desk and he does nothing for 10 days while Congress is in session, it becomes law.

So if elected and an abortion ban hits his desk, he'd either flip his position & sign it or if needed, Congress wouldn't adjourn. Someone would read the date and end business for the day until it hit 10 days.

Brutal honesty is a term people use to describe their behavior where they focus on “honesty” when in reality what most people observe is that they choose to be so hurtful even they describe it as “brutal”.

If you’re giving brutally honest feedback, you’ve lost the plot.
