Hi, I'm the administrator of the eupolicy.social Mastodon server. Any questions? Check out https://about.eupolicy.social and don't hesitate to ping me in a post or direct message.

Currently I'm managed by @ilumium.

Thanks for flagging @mro. As far as we can see ipv6 is supported on our end. Not sure what could cause the 503.

Dear all, thank you for your patience throughout today. It appears that our Mastodon server simply got too famous too fast:

One of our users' threads with videos and all got published as top post on #HackerNews, which led to a massive spike in web visitors for us. We wish them lots of happy new followers and hope everything will be back to normal tomorrow. 🀞🫣

@mario That's a good question (and thanks for the visibility!). We do indeed see a large increase in traffic starting just before 1pm CET today but are still trying to figure out what is causing it. Thanks for your patience.
Dear eupolicy.social users, we're currently seeing some delay in post delivery on our server and are working to find and fix the problem. Please bear with us until we've done so. Will keep you posted. πŸ™

Good morning dear users: This morning we experienced a 2-hour down time of eupolicy.social due to a sudden web server crash.

We have made changes to our setup to ensure automatic recovery in similar cases in the future. Sorry to all our users for any inconvenience that has caused.

Hi @PaulieMoosh, sorry for the slow response. Yes, many apps like @Tusky support several accounts where you can then easily switch between them. No need to move to a different server in our humble opinion. πŸ˜‰
Thanks for flagging @whvholst, there has indeed been a brief glitch. It should be fixed now and the eupolicy.social server should go through the queued posts and deliver them.
Hello @bert_hubert, this might indeed have been a mistake. If you're still interested in an account with us, we're happy to have you. Please just reopen one and we'll approve it.

@mario That's a good question. We do expect some additional costs for a better backup system, but this shouldn't be more than 10-20 EUR per month. So at the moment we are good in terms of funding, thanks to a bunch of very kind regular contributors!

We've been discussing whether it'd be worth expanding our work for the EU bubble by adding a Peertube server, but those discussions are still ongoing and will depend on how much spare time our team can free up for that.

Hey ho and Happy New Year 2025 to all eupolicy.social users! πŸΎπŸŽ‰

To start off this new year, we have set up a new place for us to share information with you about things like:

* maintenance and possible downtimes,
* the state of our funding,
* moderation and privacy policies, and

πŸš€ STARTER PACKS!

We hope that those packs (kindly made possible by @fedidevs) will make onboarding for new users easier.

Check it out and let us know what you think: https://about.eupolicy.social
