@chetwisniewski @dangoodin @zackwhittaker I assume the FBI are mostly worried about unpatched/abandoned older phones. So not zero days.
@craigmaloney @jensimmons care to share that? By the way the Safari Tech Preview scores significantly higher than the stable version. The poor FireFox score is somewhat misleading since patent issues keep support for a lot of it out of the FireFox source code but it will offload video work to the OS if available which it usually is.

@leoncowle @thomasfuchs Yep. :) I never miss a Decoder episode though I haven’t caught this one yet (busy week).

And to be clear, I love Mastodon. Which is why I want it to be better.

@leoncowle @thomasfuchs I just don’t see “100% against” and “under consideration” as a meaningful change. It has obviously already been under consideration for a very long time, probably almost as long as Mastodon has existed.

The fact it has now been written down on a list somewhere isn’t progress.

Also I don’t see it as a feature that needs much planning - it’s just a simple metadata flag that you either allow on posts or you don’t allow it.

@thisismissem @thomasfuchs I don’t think it needs that level of tracking. Just “how many people follow/replied/boosted/etc” would be enough.
@leoncowle @thomasfuchs listening and prioritising isn’t what users want. Users want features to be implemented. Mastodon is 7 years old now, simple features like quotes shouldn’t be “under consideration”.
@atpfm instead of reviewing movies, why not review your favourite apps? You all know a bit about software. And they’re cheap (free if you ask for a free license?)
@thomasfuchs I don't think it exists. I'm happy with software solutions to the same problem though. Assuming your display/keyboard/mouse are connected to a Mac you can have a full screen remote desktop connection with a swipe or hotkey to toggle between computers - plus Universal Control to access my iPad (which I use for music, messaging, calendar, etc)

@scotclose @atomicpoet I don't think we should "shut down” TikTok unless there's evidence they've broken some law, which AFAIK they haven’t? At least not in the US, maybe in the EU they might be in breach of the GDPR.

I believe we can stop data collection especially by widely used products. It's pretty simple - they should be forced to pay for third party audits. If the audits find unnecessary data collection, then they need to change that (or be shut down).

@matthewtvincent @siracusa @caseyliss Pro tip: your nose is capacitive. Use it to hit the play button while wearing mittens.

Second tip: I find Siri on my Apple Watch is more reliable, probably in part because it doesn’t try to automatically pair with my car, my partner’s car, my iPad, the family iPad, the tv, my iMac, my Mac Mini, my MacBook Air, my MacBook Pro… and whatever else I forgot. There’s always something at the extreme edge of bluetooth range.
