Mostly trying to figure out my neurodivergent, Finnish-American existence on stolen Ojibwe and Ho-Chunk lands

Yesterday, I tooted about replacing specific tasks in my checklist with areas of focus. I have two basic strategies that work for house and garden:

Theme: eg. finding shit, stinky stuff, sweep & vacuum
Zone: eg. counters, bathroom, junk drawer.

Garden example: weed buttercup everywhere or do everything in one bed.

Reminding myself which I am doing is key to staying on track. Dusting is not part of “finding shit.” It’s a relief, actually. I’ll write about that later.

@doggle @rebekka_m I tried, but I'm not sure there is one, especially if you're most interested in autism: "The only consistent research finding is that those with an Introversion preference are more likely to be diagnosed with ASD than those with an Extraversion preference. Several studies have also
suggested Thinking rather than Feeling." I don't really see references to those "several studies" either.

After jumping through some hoops, I found the PDF here: https://www.themyersbriggs.com/hubfs/MyersBriggsCompany_January2026/pdfs/MBTI_type_and_neurodiversity.pdf

Very happy with today’s mend of my nephew’s torn knee.

@JoBlakely "fake resurrected necromancy of real people" captures so perfectly what I didn't have words for when I first experienced it done with pictures of my ancestors. So grotesque.

I truly hate the AI deepfakes, fake people, faked voices, fake resurrected necromancy of real people, digital possession.

I hate it so much. It’s grotesque and literally dehumanizing real people to humanize programmed non-living code and deceive life.

I grew up drinking Folgers #coffee, brewed in a Mr. Coffee, and kept warm for hours in a Thermos. Over the years, I periodically stumble down another rabbit hole of brewing improvement. Now, here I am, mixing my own water to dial in hardness and alkalinity. Third Wave minerals really helped improve my brewing, but it's feeling like I might never go back. #pourover #pourovercoffee
@billinkc @arisummerland when you decide to add to your flock, do it mindfully. It was always very difficult for me no matter how gradually I tried to do it. The whole threat to pecking order brought out the worst in my otherwise well-behaved hens. I was really upset at how injured one of my new pullets got but she pulled through and thrived long after.
@arisummerland @billinkc this was my experience too - the good ol' nature/nurture thing. I had two buffs, at different times, and they were definitely more teddy-bearish than other breeds (not seemingly as smart either). But the one that I spent less time with wasn't as friendly with me as the hens in my OG flock that got to spend a lot more time with people. OTOH, the easter eggers I got a couple years later as pullets pretty much never warmed up to me.
@arisummerland @billinkc I had one chicken that lived to be ten-ish and she would still occasionally lay eggs in her last couple / few years. From what I remember, none of my hens ever really outright stopped laying, except during winter. They'd start laying again in the spring and it was just a long, gradual decline in rate over time.
