@maxheadroom For our region Meshcore did so much better than -tastic. More reliable, less airtime and you can actually see when a message reaches its recipient.
Since we switched to Meshcore (and narrow-mode today) we could for the first time see actual chatting going on in the public channel.

@maxheadroom try to find one friend who is really into it. With whom you can exchange ideas about new repeater locations or about how to onboard friends and family.
Sooner than you think you’ll have to whole area populated and hopefully lively chats going on.
Meshcore does very well in my region which isn’t very densely populated either.

@m @dd0ul ich frage mich schon länger wie sinnvoll der HAM Mode ist. Weil diese Nodes offenbar keine verschlüsselte Nachrichten weiterleiten, sich aber oft an günstigen Positionen befinden, besteht die Gefahr, dass sie für nicht lizenzierte Nutzer zu einer Senke werden. In meinem Fall, ein Tal mit zwei kritischen Nodes als einzige Nachbarn zu beide Seiten. Eines davon HAM was bedeutet, dass auf diese Seite keine Nachrichten weitergeleitet werden.

@shortwavesurfer It might be that MQTT nodes broadcast what they see over RF. At least that’s my explanation for nodes way out of my reach (apart from expired GPS data).

@maxheadroom Same here. New nodes popping up tonight from far away. Even direct contacts with strong signals. Nodemap is looking wild.
