I work in cyber. I type stuff. Sometimes it does things

This brought me back to an era of buzzing, convex CRT monitors and sputtering, creaky dial-ups

@Strandjunker

IDK, he probably said something that popped into his head, it happened to also serve a crude dominance function, and supporters will call it 4D chess while critics call it a gaffe.

I don’t think there will be a large economic shock.
For sure a major adjustment and the die off of smaller players. I think the kind of Gemini are here to stay.

I think many will agree that LLMs are a very cool technical achievement.
But when they are shoved down your throat at every opportunity and CEOs don’t see anything else but LLMs, it all gets rather nauseating.

This is precisely the point I raised with one of my children’s primary school.
Teacher: “don’t worry, we teach them how to evaluate AI’s output”.
Me: “this requires critical thinking and ability to fact check. Why not focus on those instead?”

And while looking at the comments in the HTML you will come across stuff like: “no idea what this is for but John said to keep it”

Real story with a famous network security appliance.

Burnout in toxic tech companies is nothing new.
It’s about boundary setting and self respect.
Interestingly, people tend to respect you more when you draw a line.
I think the most concerning point of this article is people “reinventing” themselves while trusting the output of a text generator.
That’s the insidious long term risk for companies.
And by the time the adverse effects are visible it will take an enormous amount of effort to fix it.
