I'm Italian, and today I feel urgent to scream: yesterday our Senate approved a law that prohibits sex education to kids in schools between 3 and 11 years old. Then, until 18, they need their family's consent for sex and relationships education programs.
I write in English as I want people from abroad to know what's happening.
Their argument is that they don't want some external non-expert people to "groom" kids, to teach the fake so-called "gender theory" (it is Vatican invention), no one wants to manipulate young people turning them into homosexual or trans.
This kind of sex education for kids, is made to let them know their body properly, to teach them what's consent, when to say no...
It's true. Both right and left oriented, there are fanatics. We have someone around who says "dead man doesn't rape", or "all men are predators", someone deciding in a sense or the other what a "real woman / man" is, yes. But there are also people who aren't doctors or psychologist who, TOGETHER with psychologists and teacher, can contribute to education.
I'm an HIV activist. I'm blind. I'm a woman. Formerly partnered with an HIV positive man. I've been active since I was 13, long before the direct experience with hin. I had a space in the school's journal then. It was 1993-1999. Since 13 to 19 years old.
I've been appreciated for this. And, yes, I'd have nothing to prevent me from adding my personal experience of how it is like, to live with a person with HIV. How to build trust, consent, talking about protections without lecturing anyone.
But from now on, in my own country I'd be considered a groomer. A predator. Someone in need to be judged by others.
Fuck off all of them.

Dein Pass, ID und biometrische Daten schlummern jetzt bei Peter Thiels finanziertem "Persona Identitites" wurde schon mit etlichen staatlichen Datenbanken der USA abgeglichen. Wird nach Belieben an alle US-Behörden weitergegeben.

Aus dem hervorragenden Text bei golem.de (eines der besten Tech-Magazine zurzeit), der eine Übersetzung von der Analyse aus dem Blog "Local Stack":

"Und wer führt die "Datenerhebung und -analyse" durch? Anthropic, OpenAI und Groqcloud. Drei KI-Unternehmen verarbeiten unsere Reisepass- und Selfiedaten. Mein von der Regierung ausgestelltes Ausweisdokument wird den Unternehmen zugeführt, die große Sprachmodelle und KI-Systeme entwickeln.

AWS übernimmt die "Bildverarbeitung". Das bedeutet, dass mein Gesicht durch die Infrastruktur von Amazon geleitet wird. Die "Geräteauswertung" übernimmt Fingerprint JS – ein Unternehmen, dessen Name buchstäblich auf das verweist, was es tut. Es erstellt einen Fingerabdruck meines Geräts, während Persona einen Fingerabdruck meines Gesichts erstellt.

In den Richtlinien von Persona heißt es, diese Scandaten würden "nach Abschluss der Verifizierung oder innerhalb von sechs Monaten nach Ihrer letzten Interaktion" vernichtet. Gut.

Aber es gibt eine Ausnahme: "... es sei denn, Persona ist gesetzlich oder aufgrund eines Rechtsverfahrens anderweitig verpflichtet, die Daten aufzubewahren".

"Der Verifizierungsprozess hat nur drei Minuten gedauert: Scan, Selfie, fertig. Zu verstehen, womit ich mich tatsächlich einverstanden erklärt habe, hat dagegen ein ganzes Wochenende in Anspruch genommen und die Lektüre von 34 Seiten juristischer Dokumente erfordert.

Ich habe einem US-Unternehmen meinen Reisepass, mein Gesicht und die mathematische Geometrie meines Schädels übergeben. I got a bunch more motion sensors and I've been putting them around the house so I can program Home Assistant to do stuff like turn off lights in rooms that aren't being used, turn on lights when we're going downstairs with hands full of laundry, obviously just flipping a switch is easy but in some rooms the switch is on the opposite side of the wall and if I put a button on the entry-side then I don't trip over the cat, telling the water heater to get hot before we shower, having a $10 smart plug tell me when my 80's washing machine has finished, having a button to make the lights go cosy, y'know just nice helpful stuff that I do because I like making the house better for my spouse and kid and as I was putting up all these motion sensors I was thinking,

man,

there's NOTHING in this program to detect when it's being used for evil

And like there really should be? Like someone could legit fucking torment their family with this, this could be used as a tool of manipulation and control and fostering the abusive sort of dependence

And then I think of how me and spouse are moving away from google and onto like self-hosted stuff, nextcloud and searxng and xmpp and shit like that, and I can't help but think, *know* really, that right now there's someone controlling their intimate partner with those same technologies, like something that's supposed to be liberating you from corporate-style General Abuse is being leveraged towards a form of very focused abuse against you specifically by someone on whom you depend

I don't think enough software devs spend enough time thinking about how their projects can be used to hurt people

Has anyone smarter than me written any long posts thinking about this and what we can do about it
