Next on deck, Pocol Harum: Exotic Birds and Fruit. This one had a bit of a unique feel amongst their music, but is worthy of play time. Wilson and Cartwright both do some brilliant and understated work on this one. Tis worth putting on a high-resolution system or listening through GOOD headphones to pick up everything going on.
I'm sure others have done this, but it's worth mentioning to those who might not have as it offers up results that I've not been able to achieve with any other method. I've laser cut a 295mm dia disc from 2mm thick PTFE, lasered the 7.25mm pilot hole and using it in place of an LP, it's exceptionally good for setting anti-skate. It's no secret that the values on most tonearms with adjustable anti-skate aren't even remotely close, but this method allows you to set for absolute neutrality with no bias whatsoever. I've used this on all 3 turntables now with excellent result. Very much worth doing for anyone so inclined. Works much better than the typical blank section of test/setup LP's. The ultralow friction nature of PTFE is handy here.
Note: this left no residue at all on the actual stylus, though I gave it a quick brush when finished.

Now on deck, this is with something of a heavy heart. I grew up listening to Sabbath and have now just read of the passing of Ozzy. Music has lost someone very very special indeed.
This imho is their greatest ever live performance. It's raw Sabbath.. unapologetically -Just as Sabbath was meant to be. 1970 in Paris was as good as it ever was.
Next on deck, we're starting the day with David Crosby, Jerry Garcia and others. This is a great live performance from 1970. The music and lyrics are very emblematic of a time and place, yet so much retains relevance now. There's also some wonderfully understated, exploratory guitar work sprinkled in as well. This one is very much worth having if you're a Crosby or Garcia fan.
There is a moment or two wherein I felt each was trying to outshine the other, yet the performance retains coherence and harmony. IMHO, a must-have album.
Next on deck, Atomic Rooster. These guys were something of an anomaly, yet quite listenable for the most part.
Very typical of the era, and yet they had their own thing going on.
Next on deck, The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. Though their name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, there was some significant lyrical content here, especially relevant to the era, but with many sentiments no less valid today. Their music had much socio-political commentary and they weren't shy to point out the injustices of the world at the time. IMHO a must have album for any fan of 60's and/or psychedelic. This is one to put on, sit back, have a listen and a think..
Next up on deck, something a bit off mainstream...
Ultimate Spinach to me is one of the definitive psychedelic acts from the late 60's. Their song "Mind Flowers" in particular is quite a ride and really must be heard in an altered state to be appreciated.
Live at the Unicorn offers a reasonable recording, but a very good performance and is very much worth a listen.
