A quick explainer about the Mastodon like (called "favourite" - it's the star). It is a personal message to the writer of the post that you liked it, and it doesn't show on anyone's time line.

If you want to spread the post, that's the boost button. The equivalent of a Twitter like is to do both a favourite and a boost.

So here's the thing. You can only violate people's legal rights and your own word so far before they lawyer up and come after you.

I really do hope Musk changes his mind and does the right thing - the employees deserve that. But it'll be fun as hell if he doesn't.

If you feel like you may be missing original content in your feed, every once in a while go to the switches button at the top of your Home feed and click off Replies and Boosts.

That will change your home feed to just show originating posts from people you follow. No conversations, no other people's content.

Sometimes it's nice to just see what your friends are saying / interested in / bringing up.
