American author Horatio Alger was born #OTD in 1832. He wrote young adult novels about impoverished boys and their rise from humble backgrounds to middle-class security and comfort through good works. The GOP claims to care so much about the deficit that they’ll shut down the government unless they get massive cuts to social safety nets.
Meanwhile, they’re demanding an extension to the Trump tax cuts — which would add $3.5 trillion to the deficit.
