To be clear, this message is almost never (directly?) related to type checking when it happens in a SwiftUI View. Instead, it's caused by things like a typo in the parameter name of a method call.

“A typo in a parameter name? Why, that should be pinpointed instantly by the complier!” Sure, in normal code. But in a SwiftUI view, you get to try to find it yourself, with no help! Each try costs you 60 seconds.

The More Than Just Code Podcast

Today's one of those days where I'm spending hours replicating something in #SwiftUI that would've taken be about 5 minutes to do using #AutoLayout.

I miss contentCompressionResistancePriority and contentHuggingPriority.

Low-key grossed out seeing Tim Apple nowadays. He's not "the personification of Apple" anymore. He's a corporate ghoul who sides with the fascis placing shareholder value over human rights.

> “If Apple’s leadership is willing to compromise on fundamental human rights, can I, in good conscience, continue to be part of that ecosystem? This question now haunts me, and I suspect I’m not alone.”

You're not. I’m suddenly seeing statements to this effect, public and private, more than ever.

Supporting Apple has never felt morally difficult… until now.

That's entirely on Tim Cook.

It's time for him to go.

for real tho, fuck zuck
“I’ve worked for the Washington Post since 2008 as an editorial cartoonist. … I’ve never had a cartoon killed because of who or what I chose to aim my pen at. Until now.” https://anntelnaes.substack.com/p/why-im-quitting-the-washington-post?utm_campaign=post&triedRedirect=true

Amazon can frequently change delivery time window on a final delivery day. This can result in a number of annoying notifications.

I have just pushed a change for Amazon where a push notification is not sent for a new delivery time unless it is different by more than an hour.

It is a server side change, no app update is required. Let me know how it goes for you!

Why is “Writing Tools” the first thing shown in Safari’s context menu? It’s pointless and makes it harder to get at the things I actually use: “Lookup” and “Translate”.

Some manager at Apple decided that showing off a new feature was more important than usability. That’s bullshit.
