Here to complain about how Wikipedia's attempts at balance often lead to bias.

Wikipedia is a lot more balanced than most other sources in English. But when a situation is very imbalance, balance is not enough.

For example, the concept of things needing to be "notable" to be in Wikipedia means that in English Wikipedia 1,139 deaths on 7 October 2023 get the same weight as over 35,000 deaths since.

Personally, the Temple Mount cults scare me more than Hamās do.

It's mostly the wanting the world to end sooner thing, and thinking its their place to make that happen.

Somebody tell Modi's fans about the red cows?

“Hepatitis A cases are on the rise, and doctors fear that as warmer weather arrives, an outbreak of cholera is increasingly likely without dramatic changes to living conditions” #GazaGenocide

In Gaza's searing, Palestinians are surrounded by sewage and garbage

Children trudge through water contaminated with sewage and scale growing mounds of garbage in Gaza’s tent camps for displaced families. People relieve themselves in burlap-covered pits, with nowhere nearby to wash their hands. Gaza’s ability to dispose of garbage, treat sewage and deliver clean water is virtually decimated by eight months of war between Israel and Hamas. Aid groups say it's made grim living conditions worse and raised health risks for hundreds of thousands of people deprived of adequate shelter, food and medicine. Hepatitis A cases are rising. Doctors fear a cholera outbreak is likely. Israeli authorities say they are engaging in efforts to improve the “hygiene situation.” But relief can’t come soon enough.

The clearer example is not in Gaza

It's more likely he was gay, and it was more closely related to him being killed, but the reason a possibly closeted gay man was the target in that scenario seems to be mostly Shin Bet's fault? So that one gets used in the #pinkwashing a lot less often?

Plus one vigilante murder, explicitly for being gay, but that happens just as often in Israel, and more often elsewhere.

My account is a mishmash of everything because I don't want to separate myself into pieces.
Mastodon is a powerful tool because you can easily filter certain words from your feed if you don't want to hear about them right now, and you can also make it so that a CW is added every time a word is mentioned.
You can also hide boosts from certain accounts.
I just hope that if you choose to do this, you're doing it out of self preservation and not because of indifference.

I thought #JerusalemPosts was usually pro Israel, but this sounds more critical than the #ElectronicIntifada !?

"After 12 a.m., a large number of #IDF troops broke into the western area of the Shifa hospital, accompanied by fighter jets. In parallel, there were reports that tanks had completely besieged the area." https://m.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-792699

Or do they think this is good?

But it gets worse…
