Please stop trying to turn everything into a #selfhosted project!

You know what a self hosted password manager is? It’s a local application. It’s not some complex 5 9s uptime service connecting life support patients to a front desk. Install #KeePass or some other password manager app and be done with it. 98% of the crap you spend a weekend building infra around can be solved with a simple local application. “Oh I need Nextcloud to edit my docs and” NO. You need a local install of LibreOffice or WPS or some other LOCAL application. This crap doesn’t need some docker crap to run.

You have files you wanna share? Fine. I could see justifying some type of NAS if you’re spendy, or just get an external hard drive to move files. But seriously how many fucking PowerPoints are you building from scratch on your phone? You’ve been lied to for the past 20 or so years of the “mobile revolution”, slowly and painstakingly gaslit by tech companies playing the slow game just to set you up for maximum profit extraction. WAKE UP PEOPLE

I may be a bit bougie but I have simple desires. If I check into a Hilton property, I expect things like closing bathroom doors, working EV chargers, straight desk chairs, working phones in my room to call the front desk and complain when I don’t have these things.

But this Homewood Suites is so fucking on par for what you expect in #Decatur Illinois is painful.
