January 2026, I step into the position of Vice President for Blindskills an affiliate program of ACBO to help the blind/low-vision community find resources and community gatherings. I’m working with a local art studio and class to bring art classes to the blind/low vision community in Salem, Oregon. I crossed the threshold into Whamhalla again today. Walgreens delivered the fatal blow, casting me among the fallen. Yet the wretched winter witch Mariah Carey has not touched me this season—her cursed voice has not found my ears. Still, it is far too soon for triumph. December stretches long before us, and her icy ambushes lie in wait. I remain vigilant, for none escape her forever.
