We will continue not seeing this as a problem until upper management is made to see it as a problem. Until students, staff, families, etc. start dying. Until we start getting sued for negligent homicide.
And it's beyond sad for me that we value life so little until it starts literally coming with a price tag.
I'd love to subscribe to the vain hope that seeing kids on ventilators this year will change hearts and minds about how we choose to conduct educational activities this year. But deep down, I can't; I know it won't.
If, in TYOOL 2021, we've still chosen to do nothing to address the uniquely American problem of school shootings in the one industrialized nation where they happen with any kind of frequency because of "ARE RITES," nothing will change.
My school district voted unanimously last night to make masks optional for all students and staff at a time where the delta variant is spreading like wildfire in my county. Hot off the heels of our county health director saying (barely paraphrasing), "If you were concerned about community spread last winter, you should be just as concerned now," and iterating that barely 9% of our eligible student population is vaccinated.
Seeing the applause in the boardroom after the vote made me retch.

Xiegu announced the x6100 like a month ago, supposedly with a release date around late July-early August. So I've been super impatiently been looking it up over and over again to see if there's been any more news on a release or a price.
