#Library haul: 2 books by Meg Tilly, 2 by the great #OctaviaButler. Almost done with Tilly's 1994 debut novel Singing Songs; tough but necessary read, about her troubled girlhood, growing up poor, moving constantly, emotional & sexual abuse, yet childhood wonder, skillfully told thru eyes of a 7yo girl. Her 10th novel The Runaway Heiress is a pulpy adventure about a woman on the run from her estranged cop husband. Butler is always brilliant & illuminating. Paper books 4ever. #VPL #books
My little boy Neo (actually a big boy at 35lb Scottish Terrier) and me wishing you #HappyHolidays. 2017 pic, he's no longer with us but forever in my heart. From #Vancouver #Canada and #BlueJays Nation, Merry Flippin' Christmas. #holidays #christmas #scotties #DogsOfMastodon #JoseBautista
Delivered about 1,000 donuts from Lee’s Donuts in Gastown to #GatheringPlace community centre on my #FoodRescue yesterday. Shelters and community centres get packed with the cold weather. This might not be the healthiest food I deliver, but it sure makes people happy and it’s better than being hungry. #VancouverFoodRunners #homelessness #LeesDonuts #Vancouver
"Raining in the Mountain" (1979, Taiwan/Hong Kong), written and directed by King Hu, is coming to my local theatre The Cinematheque this weekend! Set in a secluded Ming Dynasty monastery where plans to steal a secret Buddhist scripture and name the abbot's successor are at play, and of course contested by means of martial arts, this one heavily influenced Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger. I can't wait to see it on the big screen. #movies #cinema #HongKongCinema #KungFuFlicks #AsianMastodon #Vancouver
