ReIntroduction:

Im a stay home mom in south-central Alaska. I have three tween/teenaged kids that I homeschool while the hubs is a crane operator in the oilfields.

Im somewhat of an hockey fan #LGRW #BostonBruins #Smashville.

I like to camp, ride atvs, ski (ok, downhill skiing is my passion😂), and do your "average" Alaskan lifestyle thing. I overshare pictures of my life, no apologies.

Im fairly opinionated when it comes to politics and I have been know to "get it wrong." I acknowledge it.

Evidence for Democracy (E4D) is a non-prof created by various scientists and others during the Harper government years when federal scientists were muzzled. Media, including me, were unable to get interviews with researchers working in climate, fisheries, oil, environment -- even if it was about studies they'd published!
Anyway, E4D does research and advocacy to push for policies that are based on #science and evidence -- not politics.
They do great work. They rely largely on public support.
Read about them. If you like what they do, check out their donations page. Or, become one of the #scientists or communicators who help them do what they do.
I have a soft spot for them. Just before the organization was fully formed, I met with the founders a few times and shared my experiences in non-prof organizations, media and #scicomm.

Today, they're polling about changing the national anthem lyrics to "our home on native land". Of course the respondents are vehemently opposed to such a change, with 80% voting 'no'. Please vote!

We had a lengthy, isolating pandemic.

We had time to think about it.

Yet, we appear to have learned absolutely nothing about human interactions.

We don't seem to care about the effective use of people's time or even when or how to actually connect with each other.

We didn't see there were benefits to working from home and with online meetings.

We just returned to the same old bad habits without questioning anything.
