Digital newspaperman by day, just maturing into a love of the Grateful Dead and exploratory joyful music by night.
@chopaganda @liffy He seems to be enjoying his side projects at home here in Buffalo, though. His Steely Dan band is tons of fun, and he’s got the New Years gig at Town Ballroom this year, doing “Gantzer does … Pink Floyd.” Another covers project, but sounds fun
@chris @Brooks @chopaganda It took me a couple of tries. My first impression was “It’s just a chops fest,” but it grew on me, and was cemented at Borderland. Due to travel issues, they got there 20 mins before their set time, so they rushed to the stage, set up and took off. The pedal was to the floor for an hour and I was hooked. “Dance in the Desert” was the highlight, but I’m also a big fan of songs like “Hi-Country,” too.
@lizardllama Ha! Thanks. I’m a little relieved I’ll be in the room with other people, rather than 2020, when we were all glued to our various screens in our home offices alone while our significant others distracted themselves in our living rooms with “Gilmore Girls” or something similar
@lizardllama Jittery, but that’s mostly because I’ll be in the newsroom tomorrow night and will be unable to take a breather from whatever roller coaster ride we’re on.
@DaveG924 God, what a band and what a frontman. I’ve been on vacation, so I haven’t watched yet, but I’m glad so many people are enjoying it. I’m definitely lucky to have grown up in a place in the States where they were huge (Buffalo). I’m just young enough (“Ahead By A Century” hit the radio when I was 11) that I feel I would have missed them if I was in another state.

@mrcompletely @rowjimmy @chopaganda @Mdphunk I think it was mostly the latter, especially since it sounds like Nugs just canceled the stream last night without an explanation. I did see a voice or two or three chirping something along the lines of “I paid to see/watch Billy, not the rest of his band.”

But save for a few of those parasocial bad apples, most of the anger I saw was directed at Nugs.

@rowjimmy @chopaganda @Mdphunk and still, the butthurt over what still seemed to be two pretty fuckin awesome days of music is ludicrous. People need to lighten up

@rowjimmy @chopaganda @Mdphunk I think it was free for subscribers, but still available for purchase for non-subscribers, so a lot of people bought in, and then Nugs cut the stream and didn’t explain, which is the reason for the gross entitlement all over Reddit today.

For Nugs’ part today, they’ve streamed/are streaming the whole 2nd day, and I think Bonfire sent out an email to fans today.

@aburtch It’s all too expensive. I’ve been hemming and hawing all summer about getting some of his merch designed by a local company here in Buffalo (Oxford Pennant), but I’m just not the type of guy who spends $35 on a t-shirt. The bandanna price is decent enough to turn me into the type of guy who wears bandannas, though.
Just an on-fire set from start to finish and even more impressive given that the band bus broke down and they had to leave a bunch of stuff behind just to get here (the bass and most of the sound equipment was borrowed from bands already there). Here’s a bit from “Mad World”
