The tradesmen have just left the property taking the old gas hot water system with them. In it's place they left behind a brand new heat pump system. Cost is $2600 after the various state and federal rebates are applied. It should pay for itself within 3 years. My gas hot water was the last gas appliance on the property so now I can close the account and they can take the meter away. I already have 5.5 kw of solar panels on the roof so I can set a timer to use that power to heat the water between 10am and 3pm.
You may ask why I didn't just get a regular solar HWS which have been around for 50 years or more. Every household is different depending on such factors as roof space and orientation, geographic location etc. My research showed that heat pump HWS was the way to go for me.
I chose an Aquatech all-in-one system. You can spend up to $6000 for a Reclaim or Sanden system with separate, more powerful and quieter compressor. I would be careful about spending less than what I paid. There are some very cheap systems out there that just don't last. Look carefully at the warranty and the reputation of the supplier.

The end of an era:

10 years ago coal generated almost 40% of the UK‘s electricity.

In less than 6 months the last remaining coal power plant will be shut down.

All good.

Israel and the United States should listen, and demand upholding international human rights law as Article 55 of the Fourth Geneva Convention requires, and immediately provide all necessary aid to 2 million starving Palestinians. Period.

Beetaloo gas a “massive sinkhole” for taxpayers, investors

A vast source NT gas up for development could waste billions of taxpayer and investor dollars by being unable to compete with a “glut” of foreign LNG.

Looking suspicious:
Police killing of a person for the crime of being sunsmart, and going out to buy an energy drink, and running from someone who grabbed him by the elbow from behind.

We really need a commission of inquiry into Police use of firearms, non-lethal weapons, interpersonal rapport-building and negotiating skills, and martial arts -
compared with international benchmarks.

How many more young police officers do we set-up for failure because of the obsession with reputation, power, firearms and control?
