Full Stack Developer with a big focus on #PHP 🐘. Plays a ton of games, but mostly #Minecraft. Once spoke at a conference.

Chose this instance since #GameMaker got me started in programming 10+ years ago, and gamedev has always been an interest.

Starting the process to move to a different Mastodon instance. First step, requesting an account.

It's pretty clear where my passion is, and it's #PHP 🙂

@Momibelle You don't! Just follow @slicedlime for snapshot updates! First hint already posted today 😀

@fuchsi On what platform did you try it?

On Windows, make sure you have the newest Minecraft launcher: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download

Install it, and log in with your Microsoft account.

On the left side, you'll find Java as 'Minecraft: Java Edition' and Bedrock as 'Minecraft for Windows'.

@fuchsi Bedrock & Java are different versions of the game. Java is the original one, Bedrock was originally made for mobile/consoles, but now also available on Windows.

When you buy Minecraft, you get both. They're unfortunately not compatible.

For the Nintendo Online thing: That's unfortunately Nintendo rules. :(

@mattgrayyes Hey Matt. Thanks for the awesome newsletter! I'm looking into the weather satelite images, and in the blog the WXtoImg link is broken. It seems they have a new home here: https://wxtoimgrestored.xyz/

@mvriel @jrf_nl I think it comes from the 'Half a House' project in Chile.

It doesn't seem tax related. It seems focussed on 'Give people a home with less money, and make sure they can expand it themselves in the future'.

Half a House - 99% Invisible

On the night of February 27th, 2010, Luis Enriquez had just gotten home from his job at a lumber factory in Constitución, Chile. At around three o’clock in the morning, Luis started to feel the earth shake. It was an earthquake—a bad one. With a magnitude of 8.8, the quake that hit Constitución was the second biggest that the world

Hey!

I was recently laid off and I need help finding a new job. I'm a (primarily) PHP dev with experience in ETL, consuming APIs, writing docs, and some amount of experience with refactoring legacy code and building APIs.

I'm looking for a remote, mid-level position where I can continue to learn and grow as a dev and human, within a team of other devs.

I prefer working with PHP, but I'm open to other programming languages.

I also contribute to the PHP manual when energy permits.

I've finally done something I should've done for a very long time: I watched Lord of the Rings!

It's amazing. As expected of course. I have no idea why I didn't watch it before.

Now, time to find out how to become a hobbit. I already look like one anyway.

There's a special excitement you get when a tool you use adds dark mode.

Today, it's Jira. 🎉

@maswaba @ramsey Yeah. I've seen devs who were just at the point of not using other code yet, and I get that. That's just inexperience. But this 'against using packages' is just weird, and very inefficient.

If they have paying customers, I feel for them.
