AppleVis Announces Nominees for the 2025 AppleVis Golden Apple Awards; Cast Your Vote Now | AppleVis

AppleVis is pleased to announce the apps and developers which have been nominated for the 2025 Golden Apple Awards; cast your vote now and make your voice heard. Launched in 2012 and now in its fourteenth year, the AppleVis Golden Apple Awards is an opportunity for blind, DeafBlind, and low vision users of Apple products to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication which developers have put into making and maintaining great and accessible applications over the last twelve months.

Coming this December, we’ll be talking with the developer of Adventure of Fate about the newly released Adventure of Fate: Dungeons, the story behind the game, and the effort that went into making accessibility their top priority. We’ll explore what happened behind the scenes and what inspired the game’s development.

Also, stay tuned for the second episode of Gamers Corner, where we’ll be reviewing Adventure of Fate: Dungeons and giving it our official rating.

To celebrate the launch of Adventure of Fate: Dungeons, I’m giving away four promo codes (each a $4.99 USD value) to any iOS gamers who love RPGs—especially fans of the Adventure of Fate series.

If you’d like a promo code, send me a direct message letting me know which Adventure of Fate game is your favorite and why, and I will personally send you one of the four codes to redeem the newest Dungeons game for free. First come, first served—get one while they last!

One of the things our community has asked for the most is the ability to browse AppleVis in their own language. And we’re really excited to finally say—it’s here! AppleVis now has live translation, and we couldn’t be happier to open the doors a little wider for people around the world.

We hope this makes it easier for anyone who’s wanted to explore AppleVis in their native language to feel right at home.

Today’s the day! Help us spread the word, and here’s to making the world feel a bit smaller and more connected so everyone in the low-vision and blind community can enjoy AppleVis and learn from each other.

Announcing the Availability of Language Translation on the AppleVis Website | AppleVis

Dear AppleVis Community, Since our 2024 acquisition by Be My Eyes, making AppleVis available in more languages and to more people has been at the top of our wish list. While it took us some time to find the right solution, we are very excited to announce that as of today (11/18/2025), AppleVis offers machine translation of the website and all written content thanks to Google Translate.

Is it just me, or does JAWS 2026 feel like kind of a letdown this year when it comes to new features? I mean, sure, the whole “you have to create a profile and account” thing might sound fine on paper, but honestly, it’s more annoying than anything. No offense, but if I have to make a profile, can we not go overboard with the personal questions? Like—why do you need my birthdate, whether I actually purchased this license, or what I’ll be using JAWS for (home or work)? Seriously?

It really feels like they’re finding new ways to “verify” users under the guise of security or licensing, but what’s actually happening with all that data we’re handing over? Feels a little too much like data scraping for my comfort. I just don’t see why any of this is necessary to set up a profile I didn’t even ask for. At the very least, give us an option to opt out.

And that’s one of the big new features this year? Then there’s the so-called “AI Summary,” which, let’s be honest, I can’t imagine most people even touching. If they ran a poll, I’d bet 90% of users would say they’ve never used it—or never will.

sigh So these are the two major features for JAWS 2026? And we’re paying how much for this again? Maybe I’m being harsh, but I’m really curious what others think about these “big” updates.

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well! I wanted to check in and see if anyone happens to have an email address for Aaron Spelker. I've been trying to get in touch with him but haven't had any luck finding a way to reach out. If you’re able to help, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks so much!

Friendly Reminder: Share Your iOS 26 Beta Bug Reports

Now that the public iOS 26 beta is out, we encourage you to share any bugs you find using the AppleVis Community Bug Report Form at applevis.com/form/community-bug-report-form. By reporting issues together, we can raise awareness with Apple more effectively and increase the chances of getting those bugs fixed.

Interestingly, some of the most vocal critics of Apple's handling of bugs — especially those highlighted in our past Apple Report Cards on AppleVis — haven't submitted any bug reports or shared them with the community. If you’ve encountered issues, this is your opportunity to speak up and make a difference.

Help us help the community by submitting your findings. The more reports we gather, the stronger our voice becomes.

Happy bug hunting!

We’ve just released our take on some of the new features presented during the WWDC 2025 Keynote. In addition, we dive into many features not covered in the keynote—things you can expect with the upcoming OS 26 release this fall, including extra accessibility improvements that weren’t mentioned during the GAAD announcements.

We wanted to offer our listeners something fresh since there are so many podcasts already covering WWDC 2025. We hope you enjoy this format, as we explore a lot more than just the keynote highlights.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this approach and whether you’d like to see it continued for future Apple Keynote coverage.

AppleVis Extra 108: Recapping WWDC 2025 and Exploring OS 26 & Apple Intelligence | AppleVis

In this episode of the AppleVis Extra podcast, host David Mason is joined by Thomas Domville, Tyler Stephen, and newcomer Levi Gobin to unpack everything announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The team dives deep into the new features coming to iOS, watchOS, macOS, and iPadOS, sharing their first impressions and early experiences with the latest developer betas. Highlights from the Episode: 1. Unified OS Versions:

Resetting Control Center in iOS: A Fresh Start | AppleVis

In this podcast Thomas Domville will demonstrate of how to reset the control center back to its factory default. In iOS 18.1 and later, Apple introduced a convenient feature that allows users to reset the Control Center to its default layout. This is particularly useful if you've customized the Control Center extensively and wish to return to the original setup without affecting other settings on your device.

@DavidNason @alexhall @ThomasDomville Same here. It's kinda like this weird dividing line. TTS for work, human readers and narrator for non-work stuff. Audio podcasts for a.T., but YouTube is for just about everything else under the sun. Go figure
For those who use YouTube, I'm interested in what channels you follow. Specifically, my favorites are Carrie on Accessibility and The Blind Life, and I would love to hear any other recommendations you think I might like. Thank you for any suggestions.
