Is it just me, or does JAWS 2026 feel like kind of a letdown this year when it comes to new features? I mean, sure, the whole “you have to create a profile and account” thing might sound fine on paper, but honestly, it’s more annoying than anything. No offense, but if I have to make a profile, can we not go overboard with the personal questions? Like—why do you need my birthdate, whether I actually purchased this license, or what I’ll be using JAWS for (home or work)? Seriously?

It really feels like they’re finding new ways to “verify” users under the guise of security or licensing, but what’s actually happening with all that data we’re handing over? Feels a little too much like data scraping for my comfort. I just don’t see why any of this is necessary to set up a profile I didn’t even ask for. At the very least, give us an option to opt out.

And that’s one of the big new features this year? Then there’s the so-called “AI Summary,” which, let’s be honest, I can’t imagine most people even touching. If they ran a poll, I’d bet 90% of users would say they’ve never used it—or never will.

sigh So these are the two major features for JAWS 2026? And we’re paying how much for this again? Maybe I’m being harsh, but I’m really curious what others think about these “big” updates.

By reporting issues together, we can raise awareness with Apple more effectively and increase the chances of getting those bugs fixed.

Interestingly, some of the most vocal critics of Apple's handling of bugs — especially those highlighted in our past Apple Report Cards on AppleVis — haven't submitted any bug reports or shared them with the community. If you’ve encountered issues, this is your opportunity to speak up and make a difference.
