I always seem to miss the bright comets, but this time I managed to spot it. #comets #alpharettageorgia
My son sent a picture of a red velvet ant, AKA the cow killer #ant (not an ant, it’s a #wasp) he saw today in northwest Georgia

Then he read about them, and ran away from it.

“On this solemn and joyful day, we again lift to the breeze our fathers’ flag, now, again, the banner of the United States, with the fervent prayer that God would crown it with honor, protect it from treason, and send it down to our children..Terrible in battle, may it be beneficent in peace and as long as the sun endures, or the stars, may it wave over a nation neither enslaved nor enslaving.... We lift up our banner, and dedicate it to peace, Union, and liberty, now and forevermore." #july4th
Quick shot from this past weekend's visit to Gibbs Gardens in Cherokee County, Georgia, USA. Among all of the toro (Japanese stone lanterns) at GG, I decided to take a photo of this little guy. I have named him George.

Our son is finishing up his secondary education next month, and he'll attend Berry College in Rome, Georgia, USA to pursue veterinary science. This was our visit to the Berry campus last week. The old part of the campus with the 'Harry Potter' look is the Ford campus. These are the windows of Mary Hall.
The movies Dutch, Perfect Harmony, Heaven Must Wait, Sweet Home Alabama, and Remember the Titans were filmed at the Ford campus. (Also TV shows Stranger Things and Constantine) #FensterFreitag
Springtime in the Tennessee woods. Trillium blooming on the forest floor. Took this two days ago. There were thousands.

A large tree has fallen down a steep slope in The Smoky Mountain National Park, forming a waterfall of sorts of mossy wood cascading down the hillside. Based on the age, this is probably one of the trees killed in the 2016 Smoky Mountains fires.
