@ThePlant then here's my perspective about using Apple for you. I still believe the way to force Apple to behave is to stop using their products. It's not an order to you or anything, but that's what I see complaining about Apple should result in in the long run.

@ThePlant we always hate Apple, but how about Apple users, who know about these, and still choose to use Apple devices? Apple DOES have proper alternatives, so it's not like they are forced to make the world worse with their purchases.

@keyboardsurfer I'm doing some Flutter these days, and it was a huge PITA to fix everything related to AGP. There was a bug in the AGP preventing my app from building, and the fix wasn't backported to 7.*, so I had to migrate to 8, which doesn't work together with Flutter packages that use 7. I had to fork the incompatible packages and migrate them as well. In these times I'm reminded to be extremely grateful for the "never break userspace" philosophy of the Linux kernel maintainers.

@schizanon it all comes down to tooling. I'm using Tauri and Leptos, and I don't have to worry about JavaScript, because wasm-bindgen takes care of it. Sometimes I use the browser/DOM APIs, but all from Rust. Flutter also aims to target WASM, and Flutter development also very rarely involves touching the target platforms' native language. Not to mention if you don't want to run WASM in the browser, then you need about zero JS. I'm curious, what language did you use/consider to target WASM?
