Elon Musk says he will grant 'amnesty' to suspended Twitter accounts
Anyone else not shocked by this?
Mastodon is the only platform that is poised to take on the load of a large migration from bird site. The ability for individuals to spin up their own instances and an open source code allow the platform to scale very quickly unlike others who are getting completely bogged down (ie. Hive Social).
I think given a short time, Mastodon’s development pace will rapidly increase and all of the “kinks” will be worked out.
I'm still at that Mastodon phase of "follow everything I care about" -- just waiting for the critical mass where I break out everything I follow into lists and create a second account.
Is this a thing? Like a Dunbar number but for the cognitive load of social accounts?
(Or, is that, like, the Dunbar number.)

Recent 7-minute BBC interview includes @Gargron sharing his motivation for developing #Mastodon software:
“I felt like #Twitter was a very important communications platform… and I thought that it being in the hands of a single company was a big risk... that something as important as that to internet infrastructure should be more akin to a public utility…. without there being a single point of failure.”
Decentralized on purpose. #TwitterMigration
