I studied history of art at LMU and wrote a thesis on "Conceptual Art in America and England between 1963 and 1976" (1988, published in German in 1992).
My research on the history of art since 1945 is archived on the website "Intermedia Art" (URL: http://dreher.netzliteratur.net/). "IASLonline Lessons in NetArt" presents my research on net art (URL: http://www.iasl.uni-muenchen.de/links/lektion01e.html).

My review of Paul Wood's "Biting the Hand" is published on Art.Hist. The artist Paul Wood, living in Milton Keynes, was a member of the Art & Language group of artists founded in 1968. In publications on Conceptual Art and Art & Language, he and other English fellow campaigners have so far been mentioned only marginally. His engagement with English institutions of art education and with themes such as class differences and trade unionism are contemporary. URL: https://arthist.net/reviews/49647

Welcome!

We would like to invite you to the presentation of the results and to view the simulation of the work without addresses, which is once again online after almost 30 years. In a group tour, the reconstruction team together with the artists will present the different aspects of the work as well as the reconstruction process.

Together with Joachim Blank and Karl Heinz Jeron, the Zentrum für Netzkunst has undertaken an extensive reconstruction project this year. The canonical work without addresses by the Berlin artist duo was developed and produced for documenta X in 1997.

For several months, users were able to generate new websites, similar to what we know today from generative AI. At the end of the exhibition, the work was removed from the Internet and has not been available since.

The reconstruction team collected extensive documentation of the work and its development and compiled it in a wiki. The resulting Netart Repository should enable a detailed examination of the work as well as further conservation efforts in the future. At the same time, a simulation of without addresses was realised in cooperation with the artists, which makes it possible to view the work in a contemporary browser. By focusing on the mediation of the work, visitors can experience the original 'feel' of the work in order to better understand the functionality and conceptual framework of the original documenta version.

Ramona Westhof interviewed me about Allan Kaprow's "18 Happenings in 6 Parts" (1959) and its consequences for performance art. Deutschlandfunk Kultur, 10/04/2024. Corrections: In 1959 Allan Kaprow used the term happening for the first time in a title (He realized happenings since 1958). The person pressing the oranges was Rosalyn Montague, not Lette Eisenhauer.
