Contact - Granite and water.
Not every photograph can or should be a banger. Sometimes a simple little image is what's required, a. palette cleanser so to speak. This is what I'm learning about photography projects and series.

I thought I'd start a little thread of Dartmoor throughout the year. It may be of no interest to anyone but myself.
January. One of the best months. Always wet with lots going on with the light. The occasional day of bright winter sunshine when you can see for miles.
Hard, hard walking though. If water isn't falling on you, you are falling into it. It's cold and the wind always seems to be blowing. Keep moving.
The mastodon.social server is currently under a heavy DDOS attack and may not work properly.
The 12,164 other servers on the network are unaffected.
This is part of the reason why federated networks are a good idea: if one server goes down, the others work fine.
The more spread out we are on small and medium sized servers, the harder it is for anyone to take down the network because there's no obvious target.
There are also many other reasons why federation is good: https://fedi.tips/why-is-the-fediverse-on-so-many-separate-servers
Some of you have liked my imagery here. If you would like to see more and to see it as it is intended, rather than an occasional random image on social media, please do visit my new, sparkly, website...

I'm giving my first colloquium talk on satellite pollution since November tomorrow (online for St Mary's University in Halifax) and I am SO tired of giving this super depressing talk.
So I'm going to to restructure it from "Satellites are ruining the night sky" to "Here are guidelines for sat companies to not destroy the sky, the atmosphere, and orbit." I started this process last time I gave this talk and it definitely felt a lot more positive.
Still pretty depressing though.
