Starting to feel that we have become too comfortable. Pay attention. If you post a “re-blog this if you …” -type post, I won’t. It’s annoying.
Are you a person who works in tech who takes ADHD-related drugs like adderall ? If so, would love to chat with you for a story, even anonymously.

"Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh.
There was a pause.
"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.
"No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do."
"That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.
"What are you doing?" asked Pooh.
"Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either.
"But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh."
And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right."
Sending thoughts to those having a Difficult Day today and hope you have your own Piglet to sit beside you.
Please note, I have been made aware that this is not taken from a Milne story, however the message is more important than who wrote it. 😎
I sent this chart to a dear friend yesterday because I think it's important for people to understand the risks they're taking even though the message we all get is that COVID is over.
Big picture: with every infection, the risk of every complication goes up.
You have not "gotten it over with" after your first infection.
I'm tired of it. You're tired of it. But #CovidIsNotOver.
If you have questions, read the paper: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-022-02051-3
A new analysis using US Department of Veterans Affairs databases showed that reinfection is associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality, hospitalization and a wide range of long COVID complications in individuals who have had SARS-CoV-2 compared to those with no reinfection.
michelle goldberg @michelle really gets desantis. good piece here:
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/27/opinion/desantis-higher-education-bill.html?smid=tw-share
i would propose that we stop referring to desantis as engaged in culture war. that gives it a veneer of respect, as if it's *for* something. it's not. it's a war against rights, a war *on* americans (literally against americans). it's orbanism, yes, and in the same way it's designed to degrade america as a place for all.
It's the last day of #BlackHistoryMonth, let's talk about Ernest Everett Just.
Just's story weaves together good, rigorous science with racism & tragedy.
He was born in 1883 in seaside Charleston, South Carolina.
