@ijyx anecdotally my money is on getting along with other autistics better because we think similarly rather than having learned to be accommodating. I also suspect that being less clued-in to unspoken social “rules” makes us less judgmental which makes all social interaction more enjoyable. There is some research that suggests autistics are not the problem when it comes to difficulty between ND and NT folks, the NT people have biases that make everyone else uncomfortable.
Update: I tried posting from a mobile browser instead of via Amaroq and it turned out much better. What apps do y’all use for mastodon? Amaroq obv isn’t for me.
Hey mastodon or maybe it’s just the Amaroq app: if you could stop fucking up like everything I try to post that isn’t just text that would be so great thanks. First it starts throttling all video I try to post and turning it into a bizarrely cropped mess, now it can’t handle something as simple as not fucking up the order in which I post photos. Is Amaroq just a bad app? Or is there something wrong with mastodon itself I’m so annoyed.
This is the most anglophone thing I have ever seen. I bet you a nickel this person is American.
@Dayglochainsaw i would guess no correlation at all.
@Andy_P I get that this is a joke but it’s got me thinking. Hundreds of years ago much of work and life took place outside and many professions didn’t involve so much sitting still, so people with ADHD probably mostly went unnoticed. There were probably also fewer of us, ADHD is powerfully connected to sociological context, too much to get into here, but another factor may have been extended families tended to stay closer and new parents and their children had more support.
@nessotropheion @plants I go for soil that is visibly sandy maybe 1:3 ratio of sand to potting soil, if you don’t want to mess with sand rocks will also do or even perlite. Unless it’s a jade plant in which case I’m less careful because Crassula ovata and all it’s cultivars tend to be pretty forgiving in my experience.
@nessotropheion @plants I came here to guess plant species but it looks like everyone else has that covered. I would suggest repotting the succulents into soil with better drainage though. The soil they are in looks like it will absorb and hold water for some time which for the sempervivum might be borderline tolerable but for the other it’s likely to not be ideal. You can get a bag of silica sand from hardware stores and just mix it into the soil, that’s what I do.
