The Podcasts app in iOS 26.4 supports video! Definitely something I've wanted for a while now. But in a bigtime bag fumble, video podcast episodes don't support Apple's automated chapters. BOOO! And the transcript isn't clickable - clicking a sentence won't take you to that point in the podcast. BOOO!
@jered @paul Don't get me wrong, there are issues with Tahoe, but I think it was worth the upgrade just for all of the application enhancements. There are subtle improvements all over the OS that make it really nice to use. YMMV.
Last week, I spent the better part of five hours using Claude to generate math-based animations for an app I'm considering. No matter what prompt I tried, they didn't look right - boring, amateurish, and slow. Within 30 minutes of trying the same thing in Google AI Studio, I had exactly what I wanted. This is not me trashing the stellar Claude, just noting that these models can have real differences. Don't stick with just the one you know.
Google really knocked it out of the park with the Google Maps iOS update. GM has always had a great places database, but the enhanced visuals are a welcome improvement. A very impressive use of their Gemini AI.
@justingarrison.com My Pixelbook Go would like a word.
I just tried Copilot on an Excel spreadsheet. These AI models get updated a lot, so I shouldn't be so surprised, but it did exactly what I wanted the first time and perfectly.
Copilot was a joke before - it never worked well for me and was generally a pain to use.
Apple’s MacBook Neo, at an incredible $600(!) makes the new M4 MacBook Air I bought during a Black Friday sale for $750 feel like I stole it. I'd probably be buying a Neo if I didn’t use two external displays. My old MacBook Air M1 was beginning to need replacement, and the brighter display on the Neo would have been a nice upgrade.

Great recommendation. HazeOver set to 5 or 10% really helps differentiate the active window on Macs from the others. Quality software. Easily worth the $5.
