Early Cycladic period "frying pan" dating to 28th-23rd centuries BCE (EC II). From Grave 74, Chalandriani, Syros, Greece. These "frying pans" are so named because of their shape but their true purpose is unknown. National Archaeological Museum of Athens (NAMA 4974) .

The Mycenaean "Warriors Vase" dated to the 12th century BCE. Found at Mycenae, Peloponnese, Greece. This vessel, a krater used for mixing wine and water, depicts Mycenaean soldiers in full armour marching off to battle, with a sack of supplies tied to their spears.
